Role: Doctoral Researcher, 2021–2025 Institution: Utrecht University Funding: European Research Council Starting Grant CoChina examines collaborative planning, public spheres, and power relations in authoritarian and rapidly digitalising urban contexts. Within the project, Junyao investigated how social media and digital platforms reshape public participation, discourse formation, networked power, and planning governance in China.

Evidence-Based Regeneration of Pocket Parks
Role: Project Lead, 2019–2020 Organisation: UrbanXYZ Technology Ltd This project combined agent-based modelling, spatial analysis, and participatory design to transform an underused public space. It connected behavioural simulation with community input and contributed to the UN-Habitat Sustainable Community Pilot Program.
