Junyao He is a Guest Co-Editor of the 2027 Society Register Special Issue, Participatory Urban Governance Beyond Western Democracies: Motivations, Expressions, and Outcomes.
The Special Issue examines how national and local political contexts shape participatory urban governance, including deliberation, implementation, legitimacy, public value, socio-spatial inequality, digital governance, civic technology, resilience, and climate action. It welcomes comparative and context-sensitive research from Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, South America, and the SWANA region.
